Behavioral health means the promotion of mental health, resilience and wellbeing; the treatment of mental and substance use disorders; and the support of those who experience and/or are in recovery from these conditions, along with their families and communities. Specialists in behavioral health provide counseling and direction to people dealing with challenges like addiction, physical limitations and mental illness. The profession includes psychologists, psychiatrists, mental health counselors, behavioral therapists, licensed social workers and other healthcare providers.
