Dasan Ahanu is an award winning poet and performance artist, cultural organizer, educator, and consultant based in Durham, North Carolina. He is an Alumni Nasir Jones Fellow at Harvard’s Hip Hop Archive and Research Institute, resident artist at the St. Joseph’s Historic Foundation/Hayti Heritage Center, and visiting lecturer at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. He has performed across the country, appeared on national radio and TV, published four books of poetry, been featured in various periodicals and released numerous recordings. Working with non-profit and for-profit organizations, Dasan is a strategist and builder who uses art & culture as a foundation and framework for creative solutions to business needs internally and externally. He works with organizations and institutions looking to deepen connection and engagement, reach farther, and increase impact through creative and iterative design. Dasan develops programs, collaborates on projects, helps map out initiatives, coordinates resources, and fosters ideation with visionaries looking to adjust to a rapidly changing world and willing to embrace possibilities. His work artistically, in the classroom, and in business is focused on equity, access, capacity building, and community.
