Mario A. Guel is a South Texas native with a background in nonprofit grant management, community economic development focusing on rural & underserved communities and higher education. He has over fifteen years of experience in nonprofit, grant and program administration.
Most recently, Mario served as Senior Manager for Lending & Asset Management at the National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders (NALCAB). Mario focused on the day to day operations of the Small Business Loan Guarantee (SBLG) Program that guaranteed over $1M against $3.2M in loans for close to 100 small businesses across the US, DC and Puerto Rico.
Mario holds a bachelor of arts degree in Communication, a business minor and a certificate in Leadership Study & Development from Texas A&M University. Mario is also the first graduate of the Texas A&M University School of Law-San Antonio Center where he earned a Master of Jurisprudence specializing in business law & compliance.
Mario is a 2023 recipient of the Association Forum’s Forty Under 40®. Recently, he transitioned from leadership of the Texas A&M Hispanic Network-San Antonio Chapter. He also served two three-year terms as Board Member and Treasurer of Taylor’s Place, a 501c3 in Bryan/College Station, Texas.
In his free time, Mario enjoys volunteering his time, attending concerts, and traveling. He is married to Jennifer L. Guel, a nonprofit executive and they are raising two teenage children and two rescue dogs in San Antonio, Texas.
